Leisure is a biannual publication, with our first ever edition slated for digital release in the Fall of 2026.
Anthropocene, driven by hegemonic growth-ist ideology, promises a reality inimical to the natural world, of which all of humanity is part and parcel. In the context of climate crisis, this reckless, deleterious worldview faces growing challenges from a chorus of increasingly dialogical social philosophies from around the globe, including Andean buen vivir, South African ubuntu, Indian swaraj, or Southern European convivialism. Despite this, the continued dominance of growth-ism across the global political spectrum has largely limited discourse around post-growth philosophies at the cultural level of the global public sphere. Leisure seeks to create a space for people to share across a variety of mediums— short stories, political theory, poetry, memoir, acro-ecological how-to, policy proposals, social philosophy, etc.—to celebrate and dialogue the culture and ideas of a post-growth world. We hope that this space can serve several purposes: inspiration, instruction, community, reflection, understanding, organizing, catharsis, and more.
